The 7 Pot Primo is a stable superhot hybrid of the Trinidad 7 Pot and Naga Morich peppers, developed in Louisiana in 2005. It features intense fruity heat up to nearly 1.8 million SHU and a distinctive scorpion-like tail. Popular among chili enthusiasts for extreme sauces and challenges.

Created by horticulturist Troy Primeaux (nicknamed Primo) while working at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the 7 Pot Primo resulted from crossing Naga Morich and Trinidad 7 Pot seeds around 2005. After stabilizing over more than seven generations, it produces vibrant red pods that mature from green, typically 1-2 inches long and 1-1.5 inches in diameter with a bumpy, pimply, pock-marked skin and a pronounced scorpion-like stinger tail. The peppers deliver a sweet, fruity flavor with citrus and floral notes that quickly gives way to extreme heat. Plants are highly productive, often yielding dozens of pods. It is widely used in superhot sauces, jerky, and as a potent heat source in chili or stews, though extreme caution is required when handling due to its potency.
